Alerts Not Cascading Up To Global Scan For Applications

We're relatively new users and probably doing something wrong, but we have noticed our applications monitors can have master or regular service components in critical state, but according to the global scan everything is green for the group containing these applications. What's the trick here?

We don't have the same problem with system service checks, only applications.

As we learn Uptime's workflows we're finding lots of neat tricks, but not so for this yet.
What's the logic here?
