by May 20, 2017

We are pleased to announce the general availability of SQL Secure 3.1. Existing users may upgrade to this version through the IDERA Customer Portal. New users may download the trial version from the IDERA website.

This release of SQL Secure offers new, robust cloud functionality for the Microsoft Azure ecosystem and hybrid cloud environments, as well as adding several significant new security checks which are relevant to contemporary on-premises releases of SQL Server as well. Specific new features include:

  • Cloud-specific capabilities for Azure-hosted SQL Server databases, including Azure SQL Database and SQL Server running on Azure Virtual Machines (VMs). Users may now perform security audits on these platforms, which includes support of accounts using Azure Active Directory.
  • Expanded security check coverage for data protection, encryption, and firewall rules for the SQL Server platform both on-premises and in the cloud, including Always Encrypted and Transparent Data Encryption
  • Ability to connect to fully qualified domain names (instead of static IP addresses) for Azure VMs and Azure SQL Database instances as registered servers
  • Expanded console/repository installation options to better support hybrid cloud environments
