Announcing SQL Inventory Manager 2.5 General Availability

by Nov 9, 2018

We are pleased to announce the general availability of SQL Inventory Manager 2.5. Existing users may upgrade to this version through the IDERA Customer Portal. New users may download the trial version from the IDERA website.
This release includes additional views, updates to support MS SQL Licensing reporting, enhanced security standards and full SQL Server 2017 Windows and Linux support. DBAs depend on SQL Inventory Manager to discover and track their SQL Server environment and to inform them of issues with their SQL instances. The additional Host Server views give DBAs more information about their environment at the server level and allow them to see the relationships from the server to virtual machine to instances. With the addition of Linux support for SQL Server, SQL Inventory Manager provides DBAs greater visibility and consolidated reporting of their environment across multiple operating systems. Here are some highlights:
  • Additional Instances and Explorer views provide a topology (host server to instance) of an organization’s SQL Server environment.
    • Organizations that utilize Physical Host Licensing with Software Assurance can now get the core licenses count for their physical host servers.
    • The Explorer view now provides host information for all registered SQL servers.

  • The MS SQL Licensing view has been updated to reflect the latest Microsoft Core License Calculations for SQL Server 2016 and above.
  • Full support for SQL Server 2017 on Windows and Linux as managed servers.
  • Enhanced security standards by adding support for TLS 1.2.
  • Addressing a number of customer issues.
