We’re excited to announce the release of SQL Safe Backup 9.1

SQL Safe Backup provides the industry’s shortest time from starting a SQL Server backup restore to being back online and operating. SQL Safe Backup dramatically lowers the cost of data protection for companies by achieving industry leading recovery to online times, typically in minutes instead of hours, reducing database backup time by up to 50% over native backups and reducing backup disk space requirements by up to 95%. SQL Safe Backup enables complete and flexible “hands-free” automated backups for SQL Server deployments in environments ranging from small business to the largest scale enterprise across any combination of data center, cloud deployment including cloud native storage.

What’s New in SQL Safe Backup 9.1?

The SQL Safe Backup 9.1 release is focused on addressing the highest priority customer value cases and adding performance and scale improvements to SQL Safe Backup management console as well as extending our mission-critical capabilities by adding the new ‘Mass Agent Upgrade’ and ‘Pre/Post-Backup Commands’ features.

Product Enhancements

Mass Agent Upgrade

This operation allows SQL Safe Backup users to locate the SQL Safe Agents that should be upgraded to the latest version by utilizing a complete and flexible wizard. This change significantly improves usability and flexibility while saving users a considerable amount of time in their day to day efforts.

Pre/Post-Backup Commands

This capability allows users to configure system level actions that need to be executed before and after the backup process. Using this operation, SQL Safe users will be able to execute certain logics before or after a backup job streamlining business required executables and leveraging their IT infrastructure.

Cloud Support

Streamlines file and connection management and extends support for Azure and Amazon S3 cloud backups and restores. These enhancements significantly improve the capabilities, performance and scale for performing backup and restore operations to the cloud for both small and large databases targeting either Amazon S3, Azure or both.

Console Improvements

Simplifies new trial and overall user experience by having better flexibility, resilience and improved performance throughout the SQL Safe Backup desktop console.

End of Life and Extended Support for Windows Server 2008/2008 R2

Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008/2008 R2 have both met their end-of-life and the extended support by Microsoft on July 9, 2019. End-of-life and extended support means the end of regular security updates for any product from Microsoft. Accordingly, SQL Safe Backup 9.1 no longer supports Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008/2008 R2. The 2008 products were outstanding for their time, however, we highly recommend upgrading to the most current versions for better performance, efficiency, and regular security updates for your testing and production environments.
