Is there a way to disable the clipboard paste history feature in Aqua Data Studio? It causes various problems for me using TextExpander on Mac OS and with clipboard history maintained outside of the application.

Hi David,
I don’t think there is a way to disable the paste function. That said, can you explain your use case in more detail. Perhaps we have another solution.
Thanks, Tom

Tom,
Thanks for your response. The fundamental issue is that if I copy anything FROM Aqua Data Studio, either from the Query Analyzer editor window or the results grid / messages tab, that copied text seems to be “sticky” IN Aqua Data Studio. If I then use TextExpander to try and expand an abbreviation into the Aqua Data Studio editor, instead of getting the TextExpander output I set the content previously copied from ADS pasted back in. I never had the issue with Aqua Data Studio until the “Paste History” feature was added. I can get around the problem in a few ways, including copying text from some other application, pasting that into ADS and then using my TextExpander snippet.

Hi David,
I am not very sure if I understand your issue correctly.
If I then use TextExpander to try and expand an abbreviation into the Aqua Data Studio editor, instead of getting the TextExpander output I set the content previously copied from ADS pasted back in.
I installed TextExpander to reproduce your issue and here is my observation:
Looks like TextExpander tool is using System Clipboard to transport the expanded text into any application. When I installed TextExpander, by default it was not leaving any trace in clipboard. And the reason is Preferences > Expansion tab > “Restore Clipboard – Delay” option was checked. If I uncheck “Restore Clipboard – Delay” option, my paste operation will take the last expanded text. If your issue is that the TextExpander leaves traces of each expansion in Paste History, then fix would be to check Preferences > Expansion tab > “Restore Clipboard – Delay” option.
Please let us know if this helps. If not please drop us an email at architect@aquafold.com.
Thanks
Asif
