I’ve noticed for a while, even opened a support ticket on this case but never got a satisfactory answer. If I put an ESXi host in maintenance mode through vSphere, all my VMs evacuate off, Uptime doesn’t seem to recognize that the VM has moved to a host thats not in maintenance mode, and thus puts the VM in maintenance mode. This wouldn’t be a problem except Uptime doesn’t seem to fully trickle the exit down to the VMs when the host exists maintenance mode within vSphere.
The only way I’ve seen to fix this is to find the host in uptime, put it in maintenance mode, take it out of maintenance mode then wait. Sometimes it trickles down the exist, some times it doesn’t.
It would be nice of this could be fixed.
