While the built in AD monitor is good for basic LDAP checking I wanted to get a little more information about the health of my domain. That information has never been particuarly easy to monitor remotely but I found a great vbscript (originally for Nagios) hat when run as a custom remote monitor is wonderful. It runs a DCDIAG on a system and if you check for “CRITICAL” in the return will give you replication status, etc etc.. everythign you would get from dcdiag. This makes me sleep better as it has discovered things for me that heading off at the pass can prevent way huger stuff in the future.
