I am thinking about changing the operating system that I have up.time installed on. The other day I installed the monitoring station on a Windows 2003 server and noticed that it automatically adds itself (localhost) as an agent with some default self-monitors configured. This does not happen with the AIX monitoring station when installed.
My question is about agent licensing. The Windows monitoring station seems to monitor itself as an agent but does not use an agent license. The AIX monitoring station does not have a localhost agent entry so to monitor itself would require the use of an agent license. Is this correct, or is there a way of adding the default set of self-monitors to the AIX monitoring station?
