We are using SQLdm throughout our enterprise for hundreds of SQL Servers across many lines of business. Our consultant said that there is no mechanism to permit one set of DBAs/Admins to view their own servers’ metrics/alerts, because Diagnostic Manager would permit them to see all the servers, not just their own (not that I find meta-data to be particularly sensitive), however I find this pronouncement of SQLdm’s limitation to rather hard to swallow. I would think that just like SQL Sentry, or Foglight, an Active Directory Group, or even individual accounts, could be granted access to “groups” of SQL Servers for view-only access. Can anyone verify or refute this (and perhaps point me toward some documentation?). Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated.
