I get that we have options for compression level and the number of threads to use, but what would be really more helpful would be to have SQLSafe limit the CPU % it uses and not have to sacrifice compression levels. I’d like to be able to select maximum compression but limit the amount of CPU. If I have plenty of time to backup, don’t want to slow the server down too much, but still want maximum compression I can’t make that selection. Many utilities have this option like virus scanners, disk defragmenters, etc… so it should be possible for the SQLSafe engine to throttle it’s CPU usage while still maximizing compression, even if it takes longer.
