Understanding the Concepts in this Video
Data Modelers can create Conceptual Models using ER/Studio Business Architect. Conceptual Models are a great tool for showing the big picture vision of a company's data. Business users want to see something visual but not overly complex. Business Architect allows you to create high level subject areas as well as business entities and their attributes. This information can then be exported over to Data Architect to create a Logical Data Model.
Data Modelers can create Logical Data Models using ER/Studio Data Architect. Logical Models are used to lay everything out and make sure that you have all the right elements that you need in your database layer. You can also capture the interactions between other elements within the model. Data Modelers can start by importing Conceptual Models from Business Architect, from reverse engineering an existing database or from scratch.
Data Modelers can create Physical Data Models using ER/Studio Data Architect. Physical Models are logical models that have been transformed to a variety of available database platforms. You can have multiple Physical models for each Logical Model. Physical Data Models are used to create and update real databases.
