Everyone always talks about those other cool apps that are developed with Delphi or C++Builder. Sometimes it is publicly announced, other times companies want to keep it a secret weapon. As our community of developers continue to grow there is more and more value in the inspiration these sorts of stories provide. Understandably, all of you are busy and making a public disclosure may require extra approvals. I'm sure you can see the value in inspiring so many new developers.
Previously we had the cool app contest. The problem with that is some months we would get so many cool apps we didn't know which should "win." Now we want to extend the definition of a Cool App. Many previous apps focused on completed products and nice looking user interfaces. This can be a great wow factor. We understand that there is as much art in powerful functionality and reliability as there is in building a nice looking user interface. Going forward Cool Apps don't have to focus on the user interface, or even being visible.
In addition to sharing these with blogs and social media, we will feature some of these elsewhere on our site. Nothing better to showcase the power of RAD Studio than real applications.
We will simplify the process for cools apps some too. You just need to submit a short description of your application and 3-4 screens or a link to a YouTube Video with a demo. If the application is non visual, feel free to describe more and if you want to include a code snippet or a diagram, anything that highlights the ingenuity of your solution. Please send your submissions to coolapps@embarcadero.com or you can use this form to walk you through the process.
We reintroduce these series with a really cool app!
Rise of Legions is a hybrid of MOBA, tower defense with deckbuilding. I'm a big fan of deckbuilding games, and tower defense games, but was new to the term MOBA, which stands for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. It is free to play on Steam on built with Delphi and FireMonkey. It is a fun game, I played it for a bit, and even took advantage of the in-app purchase.
