In Windows 10, PowerShell can be launched via WIN+X (or by right-clicking the start menu icon). If your Windows 10 offers to open the outdated cmd.exe instead, it’s time for a quick settings change.
Click the start menu icon (or press WIN). In the start menu, click the “gear” icon to open Windows Settings. You now see a window full of symbols called “Windows Settings”, and a text box on top labelled “Find a setting”. Enter “PowerShell” in this text box which opens the setting “Replace Command Prompt with PowerShell when using Windows + X”.
